Donation: Ultrasound & Training

Clinic Statement/Story:

We were able to repurpose and donate an ultrasound system to the Cheetah Conservation Fund in Namibia, Africa last year. Even with all the travel restrictions and delays due to Covid19, the system shipped out on a container cargo ship. After a very long transit across the oceans and desert the system made its way to the organization. We are so excited to report that the system is already being put to very good use. The Cheetah Conservation Fund’s mission is to be the internationally recognized center of excellence in the conservation of cheetahs and their ecosystems. The team there will be using our system in their new cheetah rescue center that receives cheetah cubs confiscated from the illegal wildlife trade for health checks and welfare.

“Here you can see an adolescent female who came into the Centre over the weekend, along with her brother and her mother. With our new ultrasound provided by Sound Imaging we were able to ultrasound all three of them during their veterinary examination and work up. We were surprised during the exams of the mother and daughter, both of them are pregnant!! You can see our vet team, Dr. Freddie, Vistoria, and Dr. Natasha on the left side of the image and Dr. Ana on the right side during the examination of the adolescent female. The ultrasound allowed the team to visualize cubs in the adolescent female cheetah. All three cats are fit and will be released back to the region where they were captured after we are able to collar them.”
